Politicians will say anything to get a vote!! 45 has argued that Americans shouldn’t have to “pay for what happened in the past” when the topic of reparations comes up. Yet the U.S. government consistently finds money for other priorities — including reparations for other groups — while claiming it cannot fund reparations for Foundational Black Americans. People often ask why they should pay for injustices from generations ago, but that same past directly enriched families whose descendants now sit in Congress. There are still businesses operating today that built their wealth from slavery, segregation, and discriminatory policies — and many of those profits were never returned or compensated. When you look at the historical record, the argument that “the past is over” doesn’t hold up. The economic benefits of slavery and Jim Crow didn’t disappear; they were passed down, invested, and institutionalized. Two hundred forty‑six years of free labor doesn’t just disappear into thin air!! A foundation of a nation built on free labor, is one of the main reasons why colonialist today do their best to erase black history to keep the narrative going that the United States has always been fair and equal to everyone. | Crime news | October 13, 2019
