One company froze $475 million of Irans Central Bank

Do you still think crypto is anonymous?

No private keys were compromised. On July 15, the U.S. Treasury designated four wallet addresses linked to the Central Bank of Iran, and Tether froze the associated USDT using its smart‑contract blacklist function. Combined with the April action that blocked more than $344 million, the total amount frozen is now roughly $475 million. Three days ago, Treasury expanded the sanctions again, adding two additional Iran‑connected exchanges. | Alexander Lorenzo | August 10, 2026
